The history of the municipality of Ricaurte
is tied to the historical development of the municipality of Girardot, indeed,
the foundation of Ricaurte begins as judges of Girardot . Although the region
was inhabited by indigenous tribes of the "Panches" in times before
the conquest, the borough does not start there. The municipality was created as
a settlement on the banks of the Magdalena River in the vicinity of Girardot ,
