Key West has a tropical savannah climate. Like most
tropical climates, Key West has only a small difference in monthly mean
temperatures between the coolest month (January) and the warmest month
(July) – with the annual range of monthly mean temperatures around 78°F
(25.5°C). The stable climate and warm winter weather is what makes Key West
(and the Florida Keys as well) a popular tourist destination for many travelers
from North American and Europe much of the year outside of the hot summer
months. Key West averages more than 3000 hrs of sunshine annually.
