His name has a close association with the remains of a Turkish architecture unidentified to this day. It is located northeast of the present city.

The presence of men in Hammam Sousse as in other parts of the Sahel is very old. Indeed, the Sahel is the cradle of some tribes Berber nomads and sedentary. During the Punic period , the Phoenician of Hadrum�te (now Sousse) is founded in the X  century BC. AD , which affects the local economy. Indeed, gatherings of farmers and hunters in sedentary regions of Blida and Kanta.

With the fall of Carthage in 146 BC , began the Roman period which extends to 429 . During this period, the region of Hammam Sousse knows but prosperous agricultural land is abandoned after the invasion of the Vandals and their scorched earth policy that is refluxed people behind the ramparts of the current Sousse.

Under the dynasty of Arab Aghlabides , based on the core of the city, which is the place known as El Ksar. It is a small city surrounded by a wall with a single door on the eastern side that leads the market place. But the oldest building in the Arab period is the marabout of Sidi Sahloul (built before the core of the present town).

The 30  May  1864 , Hammam Sousse participates with 51 villages in the Sahel, the revolt led by Ben Ali Ghedhahem but is crushed at the Battle of Kal�a Kebira Bey by the army led by General Ahmed Zarrouk .
