The beginnings of the city of Tarma are
lost by the oral tradition and were conserved solely in legend form. It is
known that in the locality the populations of "Tarmatambo" and
"Punchaumarca" were located, inhabited by natives of the ethnic group
of the "Tarumas". Before the arrival of the Spanish, one intuits that
Tarma was founded according to old style customs of that time. The sources
indicate that it was in 1538 when the Spanish formed the foundation of Tarma;
