Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa, the Sikh Commander created terror
in Afghanistan & Pakistan (formerly India) especially amongs Pathans that
they didn't enter in Punjab, India. When he built this Fort, he engaged Pathan
Labour for construction. He provided only food to these laboureres & also
used to give 5 beating of Chhittar (a punjabi name of a shoe shape big leather)
daily, on the back of every labour to demoralise the Pathans & other
Muslims who were engaged in forceful religion conversion in India. It is also
interesting that after the completion of day work, all labour were interest to
have chittar
