In late 1869 the town
changed its name to "Villa de La Paz", having been the site of a
peace protocol signed between President Fernando
Guzman and Mr. Francisco Zamora , to end the civil war that year in
the west. Later in 1903 would
take the name of La Paz Centro, given in the main railway station of the town,
to transport coffee to Puerto
