All resorts without exception close by end of October each year in Pulau Redang because of the monsoon season that affects islands on Malaysia's east coast. The first resorts to open for business usually do so in late February.
March and early October are probably the best time to visit Pulau Redang as the beach is usually devoid of tourists. The peak season is between April and September, when the island is home to at least 4,000 visitors. Try to avoid Malaysian holidays and Singaporean holidays as it gets unusually busy during these times.
If you are a day-tripper intending to visit Pulau Redang, we hope you haven't packed your bags yet. Pulau Redang's ferry schedule is rather unsuitable for day tripping. The first boat doesn't leave mainland Terengganu early enough and the last boat departs from Pulau Redang as early as 1pm, which will give you a grand total of 2 or 3 hours on this crazily beautiful beach. One way to work around this is to try to rent a boat from the villagers at Redang itself. Expect to pay about RM45-50 per person or RM400-500 per boat.
As Redang is a clean beach, there isn't much of a mosquito problem here but those with sensitive skin should still be wary
