Nowadays Telšiai is the twelfth largest city of Lithuania. It is the centre of Telšiai County and Telšiai district municipality. In the city works 4 gymnasiums and 4 secondary schools, 5 basic schools. Faculties of Vilnius Academy of Art, College of Social Sciences and College of Samogitia are also established in Telšiai.
