class="apple-converted-space"> Alka is a famous museum of Samogitia, which has accumulated over 62 thousand showpieces, 70 thousand pieces of estates’ archive, 12 thousand books scientific library and 15 thousand negatives. The museum has a huge historical exposition of Samogitia as well as a large collection of paintings of famous Lithuanian and world renown artists.

In the southern part of the city close to Mastis lake there is city's park with Open-Air Museum of Rural Life of Samogitia. It was opened in1983. The museum has an exposition of typical homesteads of Samogitia of 19th century. Currently there are 16 authentic buildings. The museum exhibition is set in these sections of the homesteads: in the rich farmer’s grange; barn; in the poor farmer’s grange and mediocre peasant’s grange. The visitors of the museum can also get acquainted with the wind mill, smithery, threshing barn and the equipment of these buildings.

Telšiai has Drama Theater of Žemaitė named to honor famous Lithuanian authoress Žemaitė. It is known as one of the oldest theaters inLithuania. Nowadays Theater has two troups of actors - Troup of adult actors (director K. Brazauskas) and Troups of youth Savi (director L. Pocevičienė). The head of the theater is Artūras Butkus.
