Purnea is the largest producer of Jute, Maize,Banana and livestock in Bihar.Purnea is a major supplier of chicken across Bihar,Jharkhand and neighbouring West Bengal. The government of Bihar has opened its first of a kind 'gandhi' schemed milk which is especially made from Goats milk at Maranga BIADA Growth centre, Purnea. Several malls and townships (planned city) are also coming up in Purnea.
