You can explore the mountains by heading west from Strasbourg, but
there's a more interesting route from Colmar. La Route des Crêtes (Crest Road)
begins at Col du Bonhomme, west of Colmar. The French High Command
created it during World War I to carry supplies over the mountains. From Col du
