Located at the westernmost point is the lighthouse Blåvandshuk (
Blåvandshuk Fyr ). It towers above the surrounding dune area by 39
meters and offers a good view of the reef in the West,Vejers the north
and after Skallingen and Esbjerg in the south. It was built in 1900 and
restored in recent years.
The place is surrounded by nature reserves, which in the fall a goal of many species of migratory birds pose.
The
poet Thomas Lange (1829-1887), called the area around Blåvandshuk (in
his novel "Eventyrets land" German Adventureland). Thomas Long had
spent some years here and later returned several times, still remembers
the rectory in Ho, a small town near Skallingen , in which the poet
lived in him. In a Gartenanalage a bust of Thomas Lange is situated.
How
about the whole west coast of Denmark is also available in the region
around Blåvand numerous well preserved bunker the Atlantic Wall from the
Second World War , in which also climbed is. In addition, there is a
large military training area right on the bird sanctuary Kallesmærsk
Hede immediately north direction Vejers from which is often in the late
summer and fall the thunder of guns to be heard. Since the end of the
