It is situated at the confluence of the Kamenice and Labe rivers and was
established during the 15th century as a trading settlement. The lowest
point in the Czech Republic can be seen in the town.
A large number
of shops near the border cater to the many German and Czech tourists who
come to shop, eat, and drink here. In addition, the town is a portal to
many attractions nearby in the České Švýcarsko National Park, including
a gorge through which the Kamenice River flows and the Pravcicka brana,
a natural stone bridge which was featured in the film The Chronicles of
Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
