Sotará Municipality was founded in 1879 and
begins to have life in the year 1920 reaching the category of police inspection
judicial.Su Sotará name was taken from the volcano. The municipality was
created in 1936, when the Assembly of Cauca overturned the ordinance, the City
Council then appealed to Congress by ordinance No. until March 2, 1936 and
issued by the Act of Congress of the Republic , was created again.
It attaches great importance to the
founding of Paispamba, as implied territorial, economic and ethnic space unlike
Rioblanco Ward,
