The Municipality of Santo Tomas, called "Santo
Tomas de Villanueva Parish" in honor of its patron saint provisions for
political, territorial and ecclesiastical during the seventeenth and eighteenth

conducted in 1777 "Site and MEMBERSHIP of Santo Tomas" appears.In the early twentieth century, the District of Santo Tomas appears,
with the addition of Arroyo Grande, which was extinguished, and at present only
the township of Uvito.
