The first inhabitants of the Municipality of San
Jacinto were natives of the culture Zenú Finzenú pertaining to the kingdom that
lasted until the Montes de María, characterized by their industriousness and
ingenuity in agriculture and the arts, especially in the fabric hammock and
derivatives cotton.However, the official history
records on 16 August 1776 as the date of the founding of San Jacinto by Don
Antonio de La Torre y Miranda, Captain of Infantry at the time.
