Samacá original name came from the chibcha
a native language of area. Samaca was a small village before the conquest.
"Sa", means noble.”Ma“is a proper name, and ”Cá“ wall, or sovereign
royal mansion". The valley of Samaca, also is wll known with the native
name of lake of "Camsicá” or “Valley of the Lake”, Samaca was settlement
of grand Lake and around the lake were three Indians towns called Patagüí,
Foaca y Samacá.
