In 1892 the general Uldaric Leyva Caicedo donates land to build the first houses in Catufa (the chief conquerors Catufa forces to give you their name) that over the years and then again in township police inspection of the municipality of Purification .

In 1917 the village grows and it becomes necessary to draw streets and roads, work is executed with the help of Mr Uladislado Lozano, also the same year the church Nuestra Señora del Carmen which cost was assumed by General Roberto Leyva is constructed.
