The basic economics of the region can be
summarized in two: agriculture and mining, given its geographical location
equidistant to the main centers of the country such as Medellín, Pereira,
Manizales, Bogota and Cali. Quinchia has become a large city in the future and
dynamic regional economy. Coffee production is of excellent quality, it is also
important for its plantain, cassava, sugarcane and in recent years has emerged
as one of the municipalities with the highest production of blackberry ,; in
the mining part Quinchia stands out as a major producer of gold and to a lesser
extent coal
