Peque is a name that evokes the early days
of Spanish colonialism in Antioquia. Originally, the name "Peque" is
Aboriginal in the region where the current town is. It is a name of Indian
origin. All an indigenous ethnic group was named, Peques, tribe of the family
of CatÃos. The Spanish conquistador Don Gaspar de Rodas, the third governor of
