The origin of Pauna goes back to pre-Columbian
times, the territory of what is now Pauna, was occupied by the indigenous tribe
canipas belonging to the families of Muzos, which in turn belong to the large
family caribbean; generally were characterized
by their bellicosity, expressed in resistance to the Spanish conquest in the
sixteenth century, a company started by Captain Luis Boatmen and topped by
Pedro de Ursua.
