Before the arrival of the Spaniards, there
was an indigenous settlement in the area where it is now MaripĂ this Aboriginal
group belonged to Muzos ethnic family caribbean , which maintained a constant
conflict with the Muisca , inhabitants of the altiplano Cundiboyacence . The
territory was occupied from 1559 when Luis Boatmen finally managed to subdue
