In Girardot no official religion, however, most of the population is  Catholic . Although there are other beliefs, mainly Latter-day Saints , Evangelicals and Adventists.

The Diocese of Girardot , belonging to the Ecclesiastical Province of Bogotá, was created, separating it entirely from the Archdiocese of Bogota, by the Bull "as broad Quandocumque" of Pope Pius XII, on 29 May 1956.

It has an area of 4502 square kilometers, a population of approximately 100,000
