The Municipality of Elijah was founded by
the Reverend Doctor and Captain MANUEL ELIAS Carvajal, who was of Spanish
origin, owner of the property of the Bureau, located across the river Timana,
where he had a personal oratory. On February 24, Dr. Carvajal requests a new
license with the Bishop, Doctor Salvador Jimenez and Cobos Padilla, to found
the Bureau of Limas a Viceparroquia under the patronage of San Emigdio, license
was granted on 26 March same year, as endorsed by the Governor and Military
Commander of Neiva Province, dated December 21, 1830. On September 26, 1853 set
