The first inhabitants settled along
the Caño Uruimes, over time this was raised to the category of Police
Inspectorate of the Municipality of San Martín , under the name Urimes Inspection;for 1963 the name Lime, which is changed is changed
again 1976 when it was created as a municipality under its current name of El
Castillo.
El Castillo was elevated to municipality by
Ordinance No.001 of 19 February 1976
