The Municipality of Condoto initially was
organized by the Indigenous and Maroons Iróes and later by Luis Lozano Scipio,
in the year 1758; has received different names: Wormling, Campo Alegre and
finally Condoto. In 1878 the district had existence as entity by ordinance of
the municipality of San Juan that worked in Nóvita. Later in 1892 the Departmental
Assembly of Cauca in Ordinance No. 33 of August 17 of the same year ratified
the creation, determining that the head of the municipality's population was
Condoto.
