Before the arrival of the Spaniards , the
commune was occupied by Native Poasaque. This population was put under the
figure of the parcel during the time of La Colonia. The town was given the status
of "doctrinero people" in 1621 under the guidance of the Catholic
Church in 1790 and is established as a parish
