On arrival of the Spanish in this area and work the
social organization of Chalaláes Guanes and Indians, so that the unwritten
history of Charalá starts there. Well into the
eighteenth century, in 1702 the parish of Our Lady of Monguí was erected;
in 1824 the villa is Charalá that parish again until
1887 and only acquires the status of municipality was created.
During the nineteenth century Charalá occupied a
position of regional capital and in 1824 led a Canton.
