In 2000 the authorities of the Chocó State founded and approved the
municipality in the limits with the Antioquia State, north-east of Chocó and
south of the Antioquean Urabá. However, the Antioquean authorities in Medellín
stated that the new municipality was on Antioquean territory and demanded the
case before the Council of State in Bogotá. By its part, Quibdó defended its
decision stating that the municipality was legally on the Chocó site.
On November 28, 2007 the Council concluded that the claim of Antioquia was
right, because the territory of the municipality was on Antioquean site since
1975 and
