Alexandria's economy is based on gold
mining, livestock, forestry and crops of sugarcane and banana. The
activities that take up most of the population are agriculture (production of
panela, coffee, sisal, beans and corn) trade, mining, livestock that is
practiced by the population. Fish farming is revealed as a new source of
employment, Alexandria also produces electricity.
