The town has regular outdoor markets held on Castle Square, an area that was enlarged in 1986 with the demolition of the Town Hall. General markets are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Specialist markets (examples being crafts, antiques, local produce) are held on some Thursdays and Sundays.
