2008 in Changwon, South Gyeongsang 10th Conference of the Ramsar Convention was held.
October 22, 2008 Public bike 'Nubija' was introduced. May 3, 2009 President Lee Myung-bak took part in the bikes festival held in Changwon with Changwon citizens.
June 2, 2010 nationwide local elections, Wansu-Park was elected mayor of Changwon city.
On July 1, 2010, the three neighboring cities, Masan, Changwon and Jinhae unified to create Unified Changwon City, with population of 1.08 million.
