was populated.
When José Quesada died, Joaquín
Quesada acquired many of their land and formed a quadrant to the other
inhabitants, donating land for a cemetery, one cathedral, one school and more.
So the construction of streets and sidewalks began, and
a settlement called La Union was formed. The
first school was built in 1900, and in 1927 the Chaves Juan Rojas, the oldest
still existing School opened. In 1945, the Liceo
San Carlos began operating; although it was not
until 1955, during the first presidency of José Figueres Ferrer , which was
established as high school.
The September 26,
1911, the Union received the title of town,
changed its name Quesada and established himself as head of the corner, founded
on the same occasion. On
July 8, 1953, he was granted a city
status Quesada.
