By the year 1893 , several of these families led by Don Telmo Toro, Don Julian Ospina and his brothers decided to continue road south to reach the territory now occupied by the municipal seat. This point was coveted by many settlers as had been inhabited by descendants of the aboriginal groups and Chocoes Quimbayas and apparently lots of gold, were the lands of the Cacique Patuma , lord of the area who, according to the chroniclers of the time, inhabited what is now known as El Tambo.
