History of Teruel

class="notranslate">In 1736, the Chaplaincy Almorzadero, managed by José Francisco Sotelo and Trujillo Tovar was founded, but was burned in 1807, a second chapel was built in 1827. This, like the first, was damaged by an earthquake and subsequently repaired.

By 1877, the village of El Retiro figure as village Huila department.

In 1937, by Ordinance No. 35 of the Assembly of Huila, was renamed by the El Retiro de Teruel.
