PUEBLO VIEJO of Cienaga is located north of
the Magdalena Department, joined by an isthmus to the city of San Jun
(Cienaga). PUEBLO VIEJO is certainly a small municipality whose residents
summarize the essence of true fishermen. His first written evidence is in the
book called SUMMA OF GEOGRAPHIES written by Martin Fernandez de Enciso in 1518,
I call large village stating "Very close to the bay of Santa Marta."
It was catechized by Friar Juan Verona which reached 19 March 1526, and gave
the name of Playas de San José, leaving as its patron San Jose in honor of that
