Popayán has preserved its colonial architecture for more than four centuries, a
reason why national Colombian and foreign visitors are seduced by its historic
downtown. The cobblestone streets were almost all paved in 1937; however, there
are a few projects which are currently being implemented to recover the old
city's original look
