In previous years the population experienced a period of terror and violence,
the town was given the name "Korea", resembled the violence was
happening to this country (keeping the proportions of each problem). But the
name disappeared with time.
These territories were for that time belonging to the municipality of
Tamalameque and by the year 1962, the first police inspection, then a health
and installed the first schools.
After the administration of Carlos Lleras Restrepo, is put into practice land
reform in this area emerging so-called parcelling of land, which begins to give
socio-economic life of the region, achieving greater height with the
construction of the Eastern Trunk Road, which connected the Atlantic coast to
the interior, facilitating transport and trade with other populations.
Until December 1980 Lovely hosts Pelaya Tamalameque township Township, on file
at the town hall featured Ordinance No. 006 of 26 December 1980, by which it is
promoted Pelaya to the category of municipality.
The project was presented by Dr. Eliezer Meneses Lopera, but in the attempt to
reclaim limits, the muncipio Tamalameque filed suit, the judgment for the
plaintiff turned and was again Pelaya township.
When deciding territorial boundaries and population density, an essential
requirement for the municipality, the project was presented through the Doctor
Rodrigo Aguilar, before the Honorable Departmental Assembly and thus by
Ordinance No. 004 of 1983, it is promoted to the category Pelaya Township
