The history of Dabeiba can start with the
same name. Dona comes Dabeiba Hernández, a famous protector of settlers in the
region, and in turn, perhaps very casually, the name is a variation of the name
of a mythical indigenous treasure called "Dabeibe". Also, if that
were not enough, "Dabeibe" is the same name of a goddess of the
ethnicity of the Catíos considered benefactor and teacher of men. But surely
the town's name came from Dona Dabeiba Catíos and not the words.
