The origins of Achi are in the old town of Ojolargo,
which was located where today the Mao village 6 km from what today is Achi.
Ojolargo was founded on September 24, l770 and in 1779 had
471 inhabitants. But this town was short-lived
since fleeing inhabitants disappeared from a cholera epidemic that struck 1814
and were seated in the abundance of Achi Achi , a tropical fruit.
In 1815 Mayor Estanislao Majagual Lorenzana Huertas ordered
