Ebel es Saqi, a village in the district of Marjayoun in
southern Lebanon . The name means "the place where the animals come to
drink." The population is approx. 2000 people (1990) and they are
predominantly Christians and Druze. The city is located 720 m. On a hilltop
west of Hasbanielven . The village has three churches, a Greek Orthodox, one
Catholic and one Protestant. Ebel es Saqi, was the headquarters of the Norwegian
infantry battalion NORBATT from 1978 to 1998 , and was at that time a
tremendous economic boom with many shops, restaurants, barbershops and
