Dolores is a city in the Soriano Department of western Uruguay. It is located in the west part of the department, on the south banks of R�o San Salvador, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) before it discharges into R�o de la Plata. It is almost entirely surrounded by the populated rural area known as Chacras de Dolores
